Assessment and feedback
How work is marked, when feedback arrives, and what to do if a mark does not make sense.
Chapter 02Updated Oct 2, 2026
Every module states its assessment pattern in the first session. If the pattern is not clear by the end of week one, ask.
Marking and moderation
- First markers use the published rubric.
- A sample of work is moderated by a second member of staff.
- External examiners review a sample from every programme each year.
- Final marks are released through the student portal.
Feedback
Feedback should tell you what you did well, what to improve, and what to do differently next time. It should arrive within three working weeks for work submitted on time.
If something seems wrong
- Re-read the rubric and the feedback.
- Ask the module tutor for clarification.
- If the issue is procedural, contact the teaching office.
- Formal appeals follow the process in the academic regulations, available from the registry.
